2026 EightDown® Fest Rescheduled to August 15

After much consideration and deliberation, and in an abundance of caution, we have decided to reschedule EightDown Festival from August 1, 2026 to August 15, 2026.

This was largely due to reports of inclement weather, severe thunderstorms at peak times during the event, and a 100% chance of rain throughout. While our practice has always been and remains that events are “rain or shine”, the health and safety of attendees is paramount. In the event of an emergency, operations would have had to be shut down either temporarily or indefinitely, and all those in attendance would potentially have to seek shelter and move away from large metal structures such as the SoundStage and those within the Kids Zone.

All currently registered vendors have been notified and will be automatically moved to the new date, and existing registration fees will be honored. This includes all food vendors who previously obtained temporary vendor permits, as the Marion County Health Department has also been notified and existing permits will be honored on the new date. Performers have also been contacted and will be announced as soon as availability is confirmed for the new date.

All other logistical information will remain the same unless otherwise stated in follow-up correspondence. We understand this information may be welcomed for some and difficult for others with respect to schedule conflicts, either personal or professional. Ultimately, we wanted to give you the opportunity to make informed decisions about this weekend and participation two weeks from now, to put you in the best position possible.

While we have never postponed an event in ten years, we want to continue to serve the community for another ten years, and prioritizing the welfare of all those involved, from vendors to volunteers, is critical to that effort. In the coming days, you will see newly branded imagery distributed on socials to differentiate from the original date and let individuals know that the event has been rescheduled. It would help us tremendously if you could spread the word and encourage followers to join us on the new date of August 15, 2026, at Flanner House from 1pm until 7pm.

What is EightDown® Fest?

The 2026 EightDown® Fest is rapidly approaching. What does this mean? It means we’ve been supporting and uplifting Black-owned businesses and Black Culture in Indianapolis, partnering with Flanner House for TEN YEARS. It’s official. The original Black-owned Business Block Party took place in August 2016. The event evolved, survived a pandemic, and came back bigger and better each year. Now what started as a humble Block Party is officially the EightDown® Fest.

So the EightDown® Festival is a mecca for Black culture in Indianapolis. Food, Fashion, Performance, Music, and more. Come celebrate with us as we highlight local entrepreneurs with over 150 Black-owned businesses inside the PMPHASE vendor marketplace, dance exhibitions from EliteDrip, and a drumline performance from Sounds of Legacy. Live musical performances by R&B Cover Sensation, Vibe’N Harmoni, Afrobeats superstar Dwani, Gospel quintet Chapter V, and fan favorite hip hop trio Weirdo Gang, all on the Black Onyx Management SoundStage with our hosts Amber Michelle Harper and Mr. Tony Styxx!!! Plus the return of the DJ Skrill Memorial Heritage Cup, where the best DJs in the city will once again display their talents for bragging rights in partnership with Vinyl Destination DJ Battle League.

It’s all going down Saturday, August 15, 2026 from 1pm until 7pm (1+7=8) at Flanner House, 2424 Dr. MLK Jr. Street, Indianapolis, IN 46208.
